As you can see in the second photo, the remaining stock of these, while still brand new and sealed from the factory, seem to be a little tarnished from sitting on a shelf for however many years.  I can assure you that their sound and fit are in no way affected, this is just a cosmetic thing.
The dark patches of splotch are random...sometimes on the lip, sometimes on the stem.
It's quite possibly you can just buff it off or something, but I truly don't know one way or the other.
